About this Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of SEN who is passionate about teaching and learning and is dedicated to achieving excellence for all students.  This role would be suitable for an Early Careers Teacher.

Candidates should enjoy working as part of a team, be able to work under pressure, be attentive to detail and have excellent communication skills. You should be committed to inclusion and the well-being of every child and be an outstanding role model in your own practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To be committed to and to promote the school’s vision, aims, objectives and values.

To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, there will be a high involvement in regulated activity relevant to children.

To implement and embrace all school policies;

To implement the school’s Curriculum & Teaching & Learning Policies by:

  • Designing and implementing a curriculum for students with Severe Learning Difficulties/ Moderate Learning Difficulties that meets their individual needs;
  • Setting appropriate homework;
  • Marking work, assessing, recording, tracking and reporting student progress, using data to monitor the impact of the curriculum;
  • Planning and delivering appropriate extra-curricular activities and trips to develop students’ life skills; • Providing a stimulating learning environment;
  • Having due regard for maintaining health and safety and security in the areas s/he uses;
  • Being a member of a pastoral team and, as required, a form tutor, carrying out the associated responsibilities.

To assist with the effective operation of subject and year teams both individually and with others by:

Contributing to team, monitoring, evaluation and review (MER) to continuously improve;

Being a member of a School Improvement Group (SIG);

Taking part in other professional development activities;

Attending meetings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Good Honours degree in relevant subject
  • QTS
  • Evidence of professional development

Experience:

  • Experience of excellent teaching of students with MLD/ SLD
  • Evidence of being able to personalise learning
  • Use of data to monitor and raise achievement
  • Evidence of consistent use of Assessment for Learning (AFL) techniques
  • Relevant teaching experience with up to date knowledge of subject area syllabus requirements and appropriate teaching techniques

Skills:

  • Positive behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ICT competence and the ability to use ICT to enhance learning
  • Problem solving skills
  • Organisational skills/ability to meet deadlines
