Behaviour Mentor - Primary School, Islington – September 2025

Contract: Long-term, Full-time (1 Academic Year)
Start Date: September 2025
End Date: July 2026
Salary: £25,000 - £33,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 08:30 - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday (term-time only)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a primary school who we are supporting the recruitment of in Islington for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

This is not a classroom-based role but requires someone who can deliver targeted emotional literacy and SEMH-focused interventions to support our most vulnerable pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN/SEMH needs
  • Deliver emotional literacy interventions and SEMH-focused programmes
  • Support behaviour management and de-escalation strategies for dysregulated pupils
  • Work collaboratively with the school's SENCO and Learning Mentor
  • Implement individualised support plans and interventions
  • Help create a calm, supportive environment for pupils experiencing difficulties
  • Monitor and track pupil progress and wellbeing

Essential Requirements

  • Strong behaviour management skills with proven experience in de-escalation techniques
  • Experience working with SEN/SEMH pupils in an educational setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (required)
  • 2x professional references (required)
