Lecturer — Fashion/Textiles & Art and Design

Location: Uxbridge
Contract: Part-time, 28.8 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £32,455 – £45,260 per annum (pro rata)

About the Role

We are working with a leading Further Education college in the Uxbridge area to recruit an enthusiastic and talented Lecturer in Fashion/Textiles and Art and Design to join a highly successful Creative Arts team.

In this exciting role, you’ll deliver engaging, industry-relevant teaching across a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, supporting learners in developing the skills and knowledge they need to progress to higher education or directly into careers in the creative industries. You will also help build valuable industry links and support live briefs and student work placements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Fashion and Textiles up to Level 3 (including UAL programmes).
  • Teach Art and Design up to Level 2.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and planning.
  • Support students through excellent classroom practice, tutorials, and mentoring.
  • Develop and maintain strong industry links to provide real-world opportunities for students.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and stay up to date with industry trends.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Minimum of an HND in a relevant subject area (degree preferred).
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent (or willingness to achieve).
  • Experience teaching Fashion and Textiles up to Level 3, including UAL programmes.
  • Experience teaching Art and Design up to Level 2.
  • Strong industry knowledge and recent practical experience in Fashion/Textiles.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills and experience implementing e-learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting equality and diversity.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience delivering BTEC programmes.
  • Experience in pattern cutting, fabric manipulation, design research, and sourcing.
  • Experience tutoring and supporting learners pastorally.
  • A Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DET) — or willingness to work towards this with college support.
