School Premises Officer – Exciting Opportunity in Southwark

Role: School Premises Officer

Salary: £110 to £120 per day
Contract: Temp-to-Perm
Working Hours: 11am – 7pm

Start Date: ASAP (following successful statutory checks)

 

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Premises Officer to join our vibrant secondary school team in Southwark. The successful candidate will be responsible for the security, maintenance, and overall upkeep of the school premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

 

Role Overview:

As the School Premises Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining the school's buildings, grounds, and facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a key holder, ensuring the security of the premises and coordinating with the Site Operations Manager (SOM), Headteacher, and School Business Manager (SBM)
  • Opening and closing the school site, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation throughout the school day
  • Managing the security of the site, including monitoring access and overseeing contractors on school premises
  • Carrying out general maintenance tasks, including repairs, painting, decorating, and grounds upkeep
  • Assisting in meeting health and safety requirements, including regular checks for fire safety, Legionella, COsH, and other statutory requirements
  • Ensuring the school remains clean, safe, and secure for students, staff, and visitors
  • Collaborating with the Site Operations Manager and senior leadership to ensure the smooth running of the school’s premises
  • The successful candidate must hold a valid UK Driver’s License and must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check

 

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated School Premises Officer who is flexible, well-organized, and can work both independently and as part of a team. The successful School Premises Officer will have:

  • A proactive, "can-do" attitude with a focus on high standards
  • The ability to manage a physically demanding role and work effectively under pressure
  • Previous experience in premises management or facilities maintenance (ideal, but not essential)
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to carry out safety checks
  • A strong commitment to ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained
