Administrative Assistant – Secondary School - Barnet – ASAP Start

Role: Administrative Assistant

Actual Salary: £18,013-£18,534

Contract: Permanent

Schedule: 26 hours/week | Term Time Only + 2 Weeks (Mon-Thurs 10.30 am – 4.15 pm, Fri 10.30am – 4.00 pm)

School Type: Secondary School (11–18)

We are seeking a friendly and highly organised Administrative Assistant to join the office team at a successful all-boys secondary school in Barnet. This is a part-time, term-time role with excellent work-life balance, ideal for someone with strong communication and admin skills.

Working Hours:

  • Mon-Thurs: 10:30 am – 4:15 pm
  • Fri: 10:30 am – 4:00 pm

The Role:

  • Providing front-line support to staff, students, and visitors
  • Maintaining records and supporting school operations
  • Contributing to a positive and professional office environment

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSEs (A*-C/9-4) in English and Maths
  • Level 2 administration qualification (or equivalent experience)

Core Skills

  • IT proficiency: Word, Excel, school databases (e.g., Bromcom, SIMs etc), and office equipment
  • Organisational ability: Managing records, scheduling, and event coordination
  • Communication: Handling phone/face-to-face queries from parents and staff
  • Data management: Maintaining attendance records and student databases

Experience Requirements

  • Administrative work: Office tasks like filing, photocopying, and report generation
  • Safeguarding awareness: Understanding child protection protocols
  • Education sector familiarity: School processes (desirable)

Personal Qualities

  • Attention to detail: Accurate data entry and record-keeping
  • Confidentiality: Adherence to GDPR and data protection laws
  • Adaptability: Managing competing priorities in fast-paced environments
