SEN TA – Islington Primary School – ASAP Start

A vibrant school in the London borough of Islington is seeking an exceptional SEN TA to join their dedicated team, providing support to students across multiple Key Stages. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children who have a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including but not limited to Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

As a SEN TA, your primary focus will be to assist in the academic and social development of students with additional needs. Your role will involve:

1:1 and Small Group Support: Providing tailored support for students, both inside and outside of the classroom, ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met effectively.

Collaborative Working: Partnering with class teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and therapists to implement specific learning strategies and interventions.

Behaviour Management: Supporting students with behavioural needs, implementing strategies and techniques to encourage positive engagement and learning.

Classroom Support: Helping students with their tasks, offering guidance during lessons, and providing general assistance to ensure their educational progress.

Personal Development: Encouraging students’ emotional and social development to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Specialized Support: You may work with students with Autism and other complex needs, helping them build social, communication, and academic skills.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal SEN TA will have:

Experience working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism (desirable).

A compassionate, patient, and confident approach to supporting children with additional needs.

The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, SENCOs, and therapists.

A background in roles such as Social Workers, Youth Workers, or Psychologists, or a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.

Graduates with a keen interest in pursuing a career in Special Education or Educational Psychology are encouraged to apply.

Role Details:

Position: SEN TA

Salary: £84.70 per day (via PAYE) or £96.30 per day (via umbrella) for the first 12 weeks. The pay will increase to £115-120 per day from week 13 in line with AWR, equivalent to a £23,355 actual salary.

Location: Islington, London (Zone 1-2)

Hours: Full-time, 8:45 am – 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, Term-Time Only. 6 working hours with a 45-minute unpaid break.

Start Date: ASAP after a successful trial day.

Enhanced DBS Certificate: Required.

Long-Term Commitment: This is a full-time, long-term role with the opportunity to develop your skills in the field of SEN.
