School Premises Assistant – Outstanding Primary School in Southwark

Location: Southwark
Salary: £90 - £120 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (with potential for overtime)
Contract: Temp-to-Perm

About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and hardworking School Premises Assistant to join our dynamic team at a vibrant primary school in Southwark. As a key member of our school community, you’ll ensure that our school site remains a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for both staff and students. From overseeing daily tasks to managing long-term maintenance, your role will be vital in keeping the school running smoothly.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is practical, resourceful, and enjoys working in a hands-on role. You will take full responsibility for the maintenance and security of the school premises and will be part of a supportive, friendly team committed to creating the best environment for learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Tasks:
    • Regularly inspect the site to ensure cleanliness, safety, and security
    • Secure the building at the end of the school day
    • Manage waste disposal and recycling systems
    • Oversee deliveries, ensuring items are stored safely
    • Perform general maintenance tasks around the school

 

The Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking a School Premises Assistant with the following skills and qualities:

  • Proven experience in building management, site security, and general maintenance
  • Practical experience in one or more of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, general maintenance, and heating systems
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and an understanding of risk management
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to act quickly when safety hazards are identified
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to maintain friendly and professional relationships with staff, students, and visitors
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work as part of a team
