About the PRU:

Our secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Enfield provides a supportive and inclusive environment for approximately 60 students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. We specialise in helping young people who have faced challenges in mainstream education by offering tailored support to help them thrive both academically and personally. With small class sizes and specialist provisions, we are able to focus on the individual needs of every student, ensuring they feel safe and supported as they progress.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Food Technology to join our team in April 2025. This is a fixed-term position until July 2025, with the potential to extend or transition into a permanent role from September 2025.

In this role, you will inspire and engage students in a subject that sees high levels of interest and enthusiasm. You will deliver a hands-on and practical Food Technology curriculum that enables students to build essential skills and gain confidence in the subject.

You will also be supported by a Teaching Assistant, one of the unique features of this role, as Food Technology is one of the few subjects at our PRU with additional TA support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Food Technology lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students in an engaging and interactive manner
  • Tailor lessons to meet the individual learning needs and abilities of students
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages participation, fosters student achievement, and nurtures confidence
  • Collaborate with the Teaching Assistant to provide additional support and address the needs of individual students in the classroom
  • Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure continuous improvement
  • Contribute to curriculum development, enhancing resources and teaching materials to keep the subject relevant and engaging
  • Work closely with colleagues and staff to ensure the well-being and academic progress of all students.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a passion for teaching.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4
  • A genuine enthusiasm for helping students overcome challenges and succeed academically
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to adapt to the needs of diverse learners
  • Patience, resilience, and empathy, with a strong commitment to working in a specialist setting
  • Collaborative and eager to work with colleagues, teaching assistants, and other staff to support student development.

Why Apply?

  • Supportive Team: Work alongside a dedicated team in a setting where your contribution truly makes a difference
  • Professional Development: Ongoing training and career progression opportunities
  • Impactful Work: Have the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact on the lives of young people who need it most
