Teaching Assistant & 1:1 Support 

 

Position: Teaching Assistant & 1:1 Support for ASD Pupil
Location: Croydon
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £100 to £105 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term-time only)

 

About Us:
We are a fantastic two-form entry primary school in Croydon, dedicated to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment where all our pupils can thrive. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in our EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Provision.

 

Role Overview:
In this Teaching Assistant role, you will work closely on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with ASD, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum and engage fully in school life. You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure the pupil’s individual needs are met, supporting their social, emotional, and academic development within the EYFS setting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 Teaching Assistant support for a pupil with ASD in the EYFS provision
  • Assist the pupil with tasks and activities, ensuring they feel included and confident.
  • Help implement and follow personalised learning plans tailored to the pupil’s needs
  • Support the development of the pupil’s social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and report on achievements
  • Assist with other general classroom duties and activities as needed

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A Childcare Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in an Early Years setting is highly desirable
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASD, is a significant advantage
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to individual learning needs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
