Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Croydon
Start Date: AAP

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term-time only)

 

About Us:
We are a wonderful two-form entry Primary School in Croydon, dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all our pupils can thrive. Presently, we are on the hunt for a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide tailored support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in our EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and Year 1 Provision.

 

Role Overview:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be supporting children with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in their learning and feel valued in their school environment. You will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to provide both individual and small group support, helping to adapt the curriculum to meet the specific needs of each child.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with SEN in EYFS and Year 1.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans and classroom activities.
  • Help with the development of social, emotional, and academic skills for children with additional needs.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and report on achievements.
  • Support children in all aspects of school life, including social interactions, playtime, and learning activities.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A Childcare Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Previous experience working in an Early Years setting would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
