Harrow

Term Time Only (39 weeks)

30 hours per week, 8:45am – 3:15pm (30 minute break)

£100 per day

Due to continued growth in pupil numbers, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic team dedicated to providing an inclusive and challenging learning environment for our young people.

The successful candidate will be excited by the chance to contribute to our Primary School’s development and be driven to do what it takes to succeed. You will work with teaching staff in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. As part of the Teaching Assistant role, you will assist with planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities for pupils.

Support for the Pupils:

  • Establish positive relationships with pupils grounded in mutual respect.
  • Support pupils with becoming more independent, preparing them for life beyond school.
  • Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with special needs, disabilities and those new to English.
  • Set appropriate, challenging, and demanding expectations for all pupils and encourage a love for learning.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils and help to develop positive self-esteem.
  • Assist with the identification and assessment of SEND and EAL needs, as required.
  • Work with individual pupils, on a one-to-one basis, as required, supervised by the SENCO

Support for the Teachers:

  • Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
  • Be aware of pupil problems / progress / achievements and report to the teacher as agreed.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties and awarding reward points as appropriate.
  • Meet regularly with subject teachers for lesson planning and evaluation and assist in the development of worksheets and other resources as requested.
  • Support the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly, and productive working environment.
  • Gather/report information from/to parents/carers as required.

 

Experience:

  • Experience of working effectively within a team and playing a motivating role
  • You will have some experience working with young people
  • Experience with SEN/EAL would be an advantage
  • You may have some experience working with challenging behaviour
  • Previous experience of working in a school or other academic environment

Qualifications:

  • You have a demonstrated commitment to your own education and training
  • A good basic education to GCSE (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy
  • You will have or be willing to undergo appropriate First Aid training
