About Us

We are a vibrant and inclusive primary school in the heart of Greenwich, committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Our school is dedicated to supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and ensuring they achieve their full potential.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to children with additional needs. This role is vital in helping students access the curriculum, develop social skills, and build confidence in their abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for children with SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting lesson plans to meet the needs of individual pupils.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support children with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • A good understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.

Why Join Us?

  • A supportive and welcoming team environment.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of children.

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. You will have a safeguarding responsibility if appointed. The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references.  This post is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
