Clarus Education is working with an outstanding Catholic secondary school in Southwark, seeking a English Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students in enhancing their language, literacy, and communication skills.
English Graduate Teaching Assistant - About the Role:
As a English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in developing their language skills, particularly in English. You’ll work closely with dedicated teachers to provide tailored support to students who need extra help in literacy, writing, and comprehension.
- Support students in English lessons, focusing on language development, writing skills, and reading comprehension
- Lead 1:1 and small group interventions, helping students with grammar, spelling, vocabulary building, and essay writing
- Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and resources
- Track and report on student progress, ensuring every student reaches their full potential
- Help foster a love of language and literature, aligning with the Catholic ethos of the school
English Graduate Teaching Assistant - Ideal Candidate:
- A 2:1 or First-Class degree in English, Linguistics or a related subject from a reputable university
- Strong understanding of language development and a passion for supporting young learners
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students
- Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping students succeed academically.
- Experience in an educational setting is a plus, but not essential
