This postholder is responsible for supporting students who are below track in English so that they can fully access the curriculum

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • To support students, who are below track in English, in 1:1 sessions and group sessions
  • To support students to improve their communicative ability in speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • To support students so that they are given the best opportunity to excel academically and socially in school without being impeded by a lack of English
  • To liaise closely with the English department to help identify where interventions are required
  • To liaise with the senior leadership team to timetable the interventions
  • To support GCSE students (Year 10 and Year 11) with their home learning in study clubs.
  • To share knowledge about progress with class teachers

  • Being a positive and dynamic role model
  • Share the school’s drive to improve outcomes for students who are below track in English
  • Willingness to take part in coaching, mentoring and training
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding requirements

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • The postholder is line managed by the Deputy Head (Curriculum)

 

Qualifications:

  • Very good pass in GCSE English
  • A range of GCSEs with at least a good pass in each
  • A-Level in English Language or English Literature (or equivalent)

  • Able to build good relationships with pupils
  • Hardworking, smart and reliable
  • Resilient, diligent and persistent when problem solving
  • Very well-organised
  • Reflective and thoughtful with skills of critical analysis
  • Proven ability to be an effective team member
