We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Computing to join our thriving school community. Based in our newly built Technology Block, you will lead a supportive department delivering Computing across Key Stages 3 to 5.
About the Role:
- Lead and develop our established Computing curriculum from Year 7 through to A-Level
- Guide a dedicated team of Computing specialists through line management and professional development
- Oversee assessment, monitoring and intervention strategies across the department
- Drive engagement through extra-curricular activities such as coding clubs and digital initiatives
- Contribute to whole-school development as a middle leader

- Proven track record of excellent classroom practice
- Strong subject knowledge across Computer Science specifications
- Experience of raising achievement at GCSE and A-Level
- Ability to inspire and support colleagues

Experience:
- To have experience of working effectively within a team and playing a motivating role
- To have experience of teaching Computing at KS3 and either KS4 or KS5
- To have teaching experience in a culturally diverse secondary school
- To have experience of implementing teaching interventions and evaluating their effectiveness
- To have experience of taking a lead role in departmental initiatives
Qualifications / Training:
- To have a degree in Computing or a related subject
- To be a qualified Computing teacher (PGCE or equivalent) with QTS
- To have a good standard of general education including GCSE Maths and English
Knowledge / Skills:
- To understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for Computing and Computer Science GCSE and A levels
- To have an awareness of relevant health and safety regulations and policies
- To have good ICT skills
- To have excellent communication and literacy skills (both oral and in writing) – the ability to make points clearly and confidently, providing information and advice in accurate spoken English, and able to understand the views of others
- The ability to prioritise own time, work under pressure and meet deadlines with a sense of balance and perspective
