This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a successful department in an inclusive London secondary school. 

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Computing to join our thriving school community. Based in our newly built Technology Block, you will lead a supportive department delivering Computing across Key Stages 3 to 5.

About the Role:

• Lead and develop our established Computing curriculum from Year 7 through to A-Level
• Guide a dedicated team of Computing specialists through line management and professional development
• Oversee assessment, monitoring and intervention strategies across the department
• Drive engagement through extra-curricular activities such as coding clubs and digital initiatives
• Contribute to whole-school development as a middle leader

• Proven track record of excellent classroom practice
• Strong subject knowledge across Computer Science specifications
• Experience of raising achievement at GCSE and A-Level
• Ability to inspire and support colleagues
• Commitment to inclusive education

Experience:

• To have experience of working effectively within a team and playing a motivating role
• To have experience of teaching Computing at KS3 and either KS4 or KS5
• To have teaching experience in a culturally diverse secondary school
• To have experience of implementing teaching interventions and evaluating their effectiveness
• To have experience of taking a lead role in departmental initiatives

Qualifications / Training:

• To have a degree in Computing or a related subject
• To be a qualified Computing teacher (PGCE or equivalent) with QTS
• To have a good standard of general education including GCSE Maths and English

Knowledge / Skills:

• To understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for Computing and Computer Science GCSE and A levels
• To have an awareness of relevant health and safety regulations and policies
• To have good ICT skills
• To have excellent communication and literacy skills (both oral and in writing) – the ability to make points clearly and confidently, providing information and advice in accurate spoken English, and able to understand the views of others
• The ability to prioritise own time, work under pressure and meet deadlines with a sense of balance and perspective
