We seek to appoint a dynamic and inspirational PE Teacher to join our highly experienced PE Department. Our curriculum covers football, rugby, hockey, basketball, gymnastics, netball, swimming, cricket and tennis. The ability to coach more than one of these sports to a high standard would be advantageous. We would be keen to hear from candidates who can teach swimming and cricket.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of our PE and sports team, working across various sports, teaching and developing specific skills with our pupils. They will also be able to lead and support weekend fixtures and training sessions, trips, events, clubs and sporting residential activities. Thomas’s Kensington is a co-ed inclusive school, and therefore, sports are taught to both boys and girls. Our curriculum covers football, rugby, hockey, basketball, gymnastics, netball, swimming, cricket and tennis. The ability to coach more than one of these sports to a high standard would be advantageous. We would be keen to hear from candidates who can teach swimming and cricket. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge and understanding of

  • The school’s aims, priorities, targets and action plans.
  • The relationship of PE to the curriculum as a whole.
  • The requirements for assessment, recording and reporting of pupils’ attainment and progress.
  • The characteristics of high-quality teaching and the main strategies for improving and sustaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement for all pupils. Planning and setting expectations
  • Teach and maintain a high level of achievement in PE. Give pupils clear expectations and targets for what is going to be achieved by the end of each lesson.
  • Adjust planning for particular pupils’ needs.
  • Assist, if required, in the development of short-, medium- and long-term plans for the subject of PE.
  • Identify realistic and challenging targets for improvement. This is done alongside teaching the lessons.

Personal Specification:

ESSENTIAL Qualifications

  • A recognised sport qualification/degree
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • QTS desirable Skills
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and technology skills.
  • The ability to coach and extend pupils, developing key skills and strategy Experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.

  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality where required.
  • Positive rapport with pupils and parents.
  • High standards of personal presence and presentation and attention to detail.
