About the Role – Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant

As a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide tailored support to students with a wide range of SEND needs, fostering their academic growth and emotional well-being. You will work closely with the school’s SENCO, educational psychologists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised support plans, contributing to the delivery of a compassionate and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEND: Tailor learning support to meet the unique needs of students with complex SEND requirements
  • Collaborative work: Work alongside professionals to create and review individual support plans, ensuring each student’s needs are addressed
  • Foster emotional well-being: Provide emotional and behavioural support, helping students thrive in a supportive school environment
  • Assist with classroom activities: Provide additional support in the classroom to ensure students remain engaged and on track with their studies

 

Requirements – Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Experience working in educational settings with children who have complex SEND needs (preferred)
  • A strong academic background and a passion for working with children with SEND
  • Previous experience in a SEND-focused role is highly desirable.
  • A desire to make a positive impact on students' educational and emotional development
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career dedicated to student welfare and development
  • A registered DBS or willingness to apply for one immediately
