Requirements

To be considered for the role, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2 Years’ Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent qualification) in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Experience working with SEN students (e.g., learning difficulties, physical disabilities, emotional needs).
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above).
  • Solid understanding of the primary curriculum and current teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

 

Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Teaching Assistant, your role will include:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the teacher with daily activities, helping students stay engaged and on-task.
  • 1:1 & Small Group Support: Provide additional assistance to students, especially those who need extra help with academic work or social development.
  • SEN Support: Work closely with students with special educational needs, delivering tailored interventions and ensuring full inclusion in all activities.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive and orderly classroom, promoting good behavior and effective learning habits.
  • Emotional & Social Development: Support students’ emotional and social growth, creating a safe space for them to express themselves and build positive relationships.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track student progress and report back to the class teacher to ensure ongoing development.
