HOURS: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, term-time 

CONTRACT: Long-term – until at least July 2025

A fantastic Secondary School in the London borough of Islington are looking for a calm, confident and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time and long-term basis. The successful candidate for this Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant opportunity will be available for an immediate or ASAP start. 

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will be working with pupils in KS3 and KS4 who find it hard to regulate their feelings and emotions, and consequently, display outbursts of challenging behaviour. 

You will be supporting students to manage their behaviour both inside & outside the classroom, working on a 1:1 and small group basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant 

Your role as a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant will include but not be limited to: 

  • Supporting students ages 11-18 
  • Working as part of the Inclusion Support Team  
  • Supporting through 1:1 interventions, general classroom support and in small groups  
  • Collaborating with Teachers, SENCO and therapists 
  • Term time only, Monday – Friday  
  • ASAP start 
  • 8:30 – 16:30  
  • Full time position  
  • Long term position – until at least July 2025 
  • £85-£100 per day + weekly pay 

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Behaviour Mentor 

The ideal candidate for this Behaviour Mentor position will have the following  

  • Hold a degree from a reputable UK University  
  • Strong academic background (GCSEs and A Levels) 
  • Proven background of strong behavioural management skills  
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEN – either professional or personal  
  • A strong passion for working with children and young people  
  • You MUST be able to commit until at least July 2025
