Learning Mentor – Islington Secondary School – ASAP 2024 

 

Job overview 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Learning Mentor to complement the work of our staff in addressing the needs of children who require support to overcome barriers to learning.  

We are keen to meet with candidates who have existing child-related experience and are able to hit the ground running. 

The candidate must be: 

  • Calm under pressure 
  • Enjoy working as part of a team with a desire to contribute and make a difference  
  • Committed to inclusion 
  • Have the ability to build effective strong relationships with children and families 
  • Be able to develop and implement strategies to remove barriers to learning 
  • Be passionate about raising aspirations and helping children reach their full potential 
  • Be able to use their initiative and be a flexible team player 
  • Have a strong and focused work ethic 
  • Committed to learning more about pupils with special needs and how best to support them 
  • Support pupils with SEMH (social & emotional mental health) 
  • Have the resolve and enthusiasm to make a real difference to the lives of pupils 
  • Be committed to an ethos of high expectations and a growth mind-set 
  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Supporting vulnerable children across KS3, 4 & 5  
  • Providing tailored care to pupils with SEN, SEMH, EAL  
  • Running 1:1 & small group interventions  
  • Work within a welcoming Inclusion Team, led by a fantastic SENCo  
  • ASAP 2024 – July 2025 
  • Full time, long-term, term time only  
  • £85 - £100 per day  
  • School based in Islington, North London
