Phonics Teaching Assistant – Primary School –  Southwark

Clarus Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Phonics Teaching Assistant to work in our partnered Primary School in Southwark.

In this role, you will work closely with class teachers to support students' literacy development, with a focus on phonics instruction. This is an exciting opportunity to help young learners build strong reading and writing skills, enhance their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

 

Phonics Teaching Assistant - Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted phonics support to small groups and individual students
  • Assist in planning and delivering phonics lessons under the direction of the class teacher
  • Use phonics programs such as [e.g., "Letters and Sounds," "Read Write Inc."] to help students develop reading, spelling, and writing skills
  • Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and supporting their learning plans
  • Assist in classroom management and general classroom duties as required

 

Phonics Teaching Assistant - About You:

  • Experience in delivering phonics instruction
  • A patient, positive and empathetic approach to working with young learners
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff
  • An understanding of the importance of phonics in early years education
  • Teaching Assistant qualification, e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
