About our school:

We are seeking an inspirational Head of Mathematics for our school. Consistently graded as Ofsted ‘Good’, we are an inclusive and supportive large mixed-sex secondary comprehensive (11-18yrs). As a school we pride ourselves on the strong relationships we maintain with our staff, parents and pupils. We are now looking a Head of Mathematics to join our team!

 

The successful candidate for the role of Head of Mathematics will be joining a very successful Mathematics department staffed by over 15 specialist teachers. As a department, our team achieve excellent exam results, with Mathematics being the most popular A level we offer; we offer A-level courses in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics. We take great pride in the success of our students, many of whom have graduated and gone on to join prestigious universities, such as Cambridge, Bristol and Warwick.

Head of Mathematics criteria:

  • Strong Mathematical background – educated to degree level
  • Provide strategic leadership for the development of KS3, KS4 and KS5 outcomes and curricula
  • Lead and develop KS3, KS4 and KS5 coordinators in maths in addition to any other maths postholders
  • Ensure that challenging programmes of study are in place to meet the needs of all students
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of all students in Mathematics to ensure that different groups of learners are making appropriate levels of progress, and to take steps to address areas of concern as soon as possible
  • Make sure that the highest standards of behaviour in lessons and around the school are being consistently maintained as defined by the Behaviour Policy
  • Keep up to date records of the strengths and areas for development for individuals and the department, and to provide appropriate professional development to meet these needs via Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy sessions
  • To administer all tasks necessary for the proper functioning of the department, including the monitoring and use of resources, the placing of orders, record-keeping and the organisation of examinations
  • To be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the department’s facilities, including the teaching classrooms, the resources and set texts
  • Undertake the role of form tutor
  • Have a teaching load in the region of 34 periods out of 50.
