Nursery Practitioner

We are looking for a committed and competent nursery practitioner to join the friendly team at this popular nursery in the heart of Notting Hill. The successful candidate will help plan and deliver engaging learning activities in accordance with the EYFS learning goals. QTS, Montessori Diploma or the minimum of a relevant Level 3 Childcare qualification, as well as experience of teaching in an EYFS setting, is essential.

The position will involve contact with, and responsibility for, children and will amount to ‘regulated activity’.

The role is term time, Monday to Friday (8.15am – 4.30pm). However, there is the possibility that a part-time role would be considered.

 

Job Description

General areas of responsibility

  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils
  • To comply with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection policy and ensure that any concerns relating to the safety or welfare of children are reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Safeguarding Governor
  • To act professionally at all times, setting a good example to children through high standards of presentation and personal conduct whilst contributing positively to effective working relationships within the School
  • To develop the social and communication skills of children and provide a safe and secure environment in which the child can learn
  • To foster a love of learning in all pupils
  • To have a secure knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and its statutory requirements
  • To identify, track and provide proper learning experiences for the highly able and gifted, for those with individual needs or learning difficulties and for those pupils for whom English is an additional language
  • To assist with the identifying of pupils’ learning difficulties and the monitoring of provision for pupils with individual needs in collaboration with the Head and SENCO
  • To manage assistant teachers ensuring that they add optimal value to learning and progress
  • To keep up to date with pastoral care policies of the School and remain sufficiently aware of any personal problems of individual pupils
  • To keep up to date with such School policies, including the staff code of conduct and other guidance, as are relevant to the duties contained in the job description, and your ability to carry them out properly
  • To ensure all legal requirements regarding child protection and health and safety at work are met

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • QTS, Montessori Diploma or the minimum of a relevant Level 3 Childcare qualification, as well as experience of teaching in an EYFS setting, is essential.

  • Good team working skills – it is essential to be able to work with colleagues cooperatively
  • Flexibility – it is important to be able to respond to the needs of children and adapt or change plans accordingly
  • A positive, energetic and enthusiastic outlook and a commitment to supporting the wider life of the school, such as after-school activities
  • Demonstrate good organisation and have high expectations of achievement and behaviour
  • Demonstrate professionalism, loyalty, integrity and diplomacy when dealing with others
  • Sense of humour
