The Role

Science is an extremely popular subject throughout the school with a large number of students progressing to our highly successful ‘A’ level courses. We currently have two A Level classes in Biology, two in Chemistry and two in Physics. Many of our students leave us to study Science-related subjects at Russell Group universities.

The Person

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom teacher who can inspire and excite students about their learning. They will have an innovative approach to developing a Science curriculum that is inclusive to all students and makes good use of ICT.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach Science across the full age and ability range up to and including their specialism at A Level. The ability to work within a team is essential and a sound knowledge and understanding of best practice in the accurate assessment of student work is essential.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status within the relevant subject area.
  • Experience of teaching all or most of the age range served by the School (11 – 18)
  • Well qualified in the appropriate subject area and/or participation in relevant in-service courses and/or further professional study

The Curriculum and Students

  • Successful experience of organising, delivering and evaluating the teaching of the subject area both with regard to methodology as well as content
  • Understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum and developments in teaching of GCSE and post 16 within the subject area
  • Understanding of and experience in developing cross-curricular links
  • Evidence of commitment to, and enthusiasm in raising of standards and achievement
  • Evidence of the ability to oversee and promote effective participation of students in lessons
