Primary Principal - Shanghai, China - January 2025

 

This role will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the primary division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and fostering a positive learning environment. This position requires a strong educational background, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a passion for empowering students and teachers to reach their full potential.


Responsibilities:
Provide visionary leadership to the primary division, setting clear goals and objectives aligned with the school's mission and values.
Oversee the development and implementation of an effective primary curriculum that meets national and international standards, ensuring a well-rounded education for students.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social, emotional, and academic growth of students.
Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate primary school staff, including teachers and support staff, to ensure excellence in teaching and learning.
Collaborate with teachers to develop innovative teaching methodologies, instructional materials, and assessment strategies that cater to diverse learning needs.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of primary students, providing guidance and support to teachers to enhance student achievement.
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with parents, ensuring their involvement in their child's education and addressing any concerns or queries.
Collaborate with other school leaders to promote a cohesive educational experience across all divisions, fostering a strong sense of community within the school.
Stay abreast of current educational trends, research, and best practices, incorporating them into the primary division's policies and practices.
Manage the primary division's budget, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and compliance with financial guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Teaching license, such as PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), QTS, SACE or any other globally recognised teaching qualification
  • Minimum two years full-time teaching experience & proven leadership experience
  • Proven experience as an English teacher or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of literary works, genres, authors, literary analysis techniques, and historical and cultural context.
  • Familiarity with various teaching strategies, methodologies, resources, and technology tools used in English literature education.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to facilitate class discussions and guide students in literary analysis.
  • Ability to inspire and cultivate a love for reading and appreciation of literature among students.
  • Organisational skills to plan and manage lessons effectively, incorporating diverse literary texts and critical analysis.
  • 10.Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
  • 11.Passion for literature and the ability to inspire students' curiosity, critical thinking, and enjoyment of literary works.

 

The candidate should also prioritise the safety and well-being of children by:

  • Respecting and valuing each child's social, cultural, and religious background, and setting an example of mutual respect and tolerance.
  • Adhering to the school's safeguarding policy to ensure the safety of children both on and off the school premises when they are under the school's jurisdiction.
  • Acknowledging that safety is a shared responsibility among all employees, and taking reasonable care of oneself and others. This includes complying with the school's well-being and safeguarding policies and procedures, as well as the relevant laws of the country where the school is located, and any specific procedures or rules applicable to the role.
  • Attending assemblies, maintaining attendance records, and supervising children to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Complying with the laws and education policies of the country where the school is located.

CNY 28-53K (USD 4050-7685 approx.) - £2997-5675 GBP equivalent
