Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £36,811 - £57,018 (MPS/UPS) + TLR 2B (£5,632) inclusive ILA

Hours per Week: Full-time

Accountable to: Assistant Principal

Location: Southwark

About the Role

We are seeking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Physical Education at a mainstream secondary based out in South London, Southwark. The core purpose of this role is to lead the PE department, manage facilities, and consistently deliver outstanding lessons.

 

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the PE department within the school and across the Trust, while also making a significant contribution to the enrichment programmed, including clubs and fixtures.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure students’ work is marked regularly and conscientiously.
  • Provide appropriate and effective intervention as required.
  • Promote equal opportunities and support the Trust’s EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) policy.
  • Actively promote the aims and ethos of the Trust.
  • Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required by the CEO or Principal.
  • Assume responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, following the Academy’s safeguarding policies, and undergo an enhanced DBS.

 

Essential:

  • Well-qualified graduate in a relevant discipline.
  • QTS
  • Proven track record of raising educational standards.
  • Experience delivering PE at Key Stage 3, GCSE, and possibly A Level.
  • Outstanding classroom practitioner with a passion for teaching PE.
  • High professional standards and a commitment to professional development.
