Maths Lead Teacher – SEMH School – Camden

Are you passionate about teaching Maths and supporting students with additional needs?

An amazing and inspiring SEMH secondary school in Camden, are seeking a dynamic, kind-hearted Maths teacher to join their friendly and welcoming team. The special school provides support for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

As a SEMH Maths Lead, you will take the lead to plan, coordinate and quality assure the subject area to ensure that the subject is consistently well planned throughout the school, paying special attention to the structure, methodology and delivery of learning experiences.  

You will be supporting students with SEMH, inspiring and motivating them to obtain meaningful outcomes, raise achievement levels and improve self-esteem. You will engage students with exciting lessons, fostering their mathematical abilities and contributing to their academic development within a calm and purposeful environment.

The school understand all students have their own unique strengths, as well as their own individual needs. They inspire their students to become confident young people, with a strong focus on developing social and personal skills alongside their academic learning.

This is a great opportunity for a passionate Maths Teacher to support and challenge SEMH students, encouraging them to go beyond their personal limitations and self-beliefs, whilst encouraging a love and understanding of Maths and ensuring consistency of learning experiences across the school.

Job Description – SEMH Maths Lead

  • Maths Teacher and Lead in SEMH special school
  • Working with students aged 11 - 16
  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons that meet the needs of all students
  • Teaching and leading Maths/Numeracy across the school as part of the Middle Leadership Team
  • Supporting colleagues in the teaching of Maths as a core subject
  • Ensure the students fully engage in their learning, and are given all the tools needed to reach their full potential
  • Collaborating with other professionals
  • Inspire and motivate students

Person Specification – SEMH Maths Lead

  • Must have UK QTS
  • Have experience co-ordinating, leading and quality assuring your subject area as subject leader
  • A positive, 'can do' attitude and willingness to support colleagues
  • A good sense of humour that will make learning engaging for students
  • Have experience of working with young people with a range of SEMH and developing appropriate strategies to help them achieve their goals
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a practical approach to engaging pupils
  • Experience preparing students for examinations and assessments
  • The ability to create meaningful connections with students and build strong relationships
  • Enthusiasm and expertise to lead the Maths/Numeracy department
