Assistant Head Teacher – KS2 Class Share & Subject Lead – Islington Primary School – September 2024  

 

The Executive Head Teacher of a fantastic Islington Primary School is looking for an ambitious and confident class based (KS2 class share) Assistant Head Teacher, who is keen to learn and develop. Applications are welcome from those looking to take the step up to AHT, as well as those who are currently AHT and looking to work within an established and proven SLT. 

 

If successful and appointed as Assistant Head Teacher, you will work alongside a talented and inspirational leadership team. This role will be a class share in KS2 with the counterpart Assistant Head.  

The successful applicant MUST be able to show strength in organisation, inter-personal skills, proven track record of excellent classroom practice, leadership and strong work ethic.

POSITION: 

  • Phase Leader overseeing two-year groups and Subject Leader (English or Maths)  
  • Appraisal lead for all teachers in phase  
  • 50% teaching commitment through a class share in KS2 (Year group to be decided)  
  • As English lead you will: lead in whole scale review and revamp of the writing curriculum, further embed our reading curriculum, implement a coherent curriculum for teaching SPAG and drive a true 'reading for pleasure' culture. 
  • As maths lead you will: roll out the Power Maths mastery scheme into KS2, support staff in planning and delivering the approach, continue embedding our work on fluency and arithmetic through the EYFS and KS1 Mastering number and KS2 timetables scheme. 
  •  You will lead staff CPD, team teach and be a role model of excellent teaching.  
  • Salary: Grade L5 - L10 (£61,004 to £67,880) depending on experience. Inner London.  

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 

  • MUST be a qualified & experienced Primary Teacher 
  • Current or aspiring Assistant Head Teacher / AHT 
  • Teacher training qualification required (UK QTS a must) 
  • Proven track record of KS2 Teaching experience 
  • Experience or currently leading Maths or English 
  • You must be a natural leader 
  • Switched-on individual who is able to multi-task and not be afraid of a challenge 
  • You must be willing to learn, and be able to sync with the current team 
  • Good track record of Good / Outstanding teaching observations
