About this Role

We are eagerly seeking to employ a dedicated and visionary Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) to contribute across both our Infant and Junior Schools commencing in September 2024. This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional who is passionate about making a substantial difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Exceptional skills in offering superior support and guidance for SEND coordination across both schools.
  • A proven track record as an outstanding educator with high aspirations for student achievement, progress, and conduct, coupled with a commitment to unlocking the full potential of every child.
  • The capability to play a pivotal role in the continuous improvement of a school striving for excellence.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, parents, external partners, and other educational institutions, ensuring comprehensive support and seamless educational continuity for SEND pupils.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of inclusion and intervention for pupils with additional educational needs.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the development and management of SEND provision.
  • Identify improvement areas linked to the school development plan and national/local initiatives.
  • Model effective strategies for teaching and inclusion.
  • Collaborative Teaching and Support
  • Adaptive Planning and Teaching Support Teaching Functions:
  • Plan and implement learning activities for SEN pupils. • Maintain and assess records in line with school policies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and high standards of learning.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress to parents/carers.
  • Attend to the pastoral needs of pupils, promoting well-being and social-emotional development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with extensive teaching experience.
  • Proven experience in SEND coordination and a thorough understanding of SEND legislation and guidelines.
  • Training and experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
