Do you have experience working with students with SEND? Do you want a role which enables you to lead on ensuring that all students’ additional needs are met?

 

All applicants must have the NASENCO and experience within the role of a school SENDCo.

 

The successful candidate will be a qualified SENCO and be committed to setting high expectations and standards for all with an unrelenting ambition for the school, the staff and pupils. They will be able to lead, manage and inspire pupils and staff, managing long-term objectives whilst dealing effectively with fast moving day-to-day priorities. The successful candidate will possess drive, vision, enthusiasm working effectively to support pupils with special needs and disadvantaged pupils. They will work with our most vulnerable pupils and those with the greatest needs.

 

We therefore are looking for someone with high levels of motivation and commitment and are prepared to go the extra mile for pupils and their families, building even further the confidence and reputation of the school with pupils, parents and the wider community.

 

This post includes liaising with a range of external agencies to support the students in our care, and ensuring that all statutory protocols around SEND assessment and funding are followed. This multi-faceted role encompasses oversight, and leadership, of quality first education, outcomes, personal development, enrichment and progress for students with SEN and/or disabilities.

 

Working with the Head Teacher, and other senior leaders in the schools, the post holder will be able to grow the role to make it their own.

 

What the school offers its staff

Our Greenwich Secondary School is a small 11-16 school. We have 640 pupils on role across five-year groups (Years 7 to 11). The College is situated in Greenwich in Southeast London.

 

In January 2019 we received an Ofsted rating of ‘Good’ and we are very proud of our community and the pupils we serve.

 

Specifically, you will:

  • Lead a calm, safe, environment where all adults secure the highest standards of student behaviour and academic achievement
  • Lead and model best practice for all staff
  • Lead on positive behaviour and attitude to learning
  • Implement strategies that enable vulnerable students to achieve, attend and behave in-line with the rest of the school
  • Promote and model good relationships with parents, which are based on partnerships, to support and improve students’ behaviour, attendance and achievement
