Learning and Development Officer – West London – FE College – January 2025

Salary: £30,711 to £32,642 per annum including London Weighting

Hours: Full Time

Contract: Permanent

In this newly created role, you would support the Learning and Development Manager in the delivery of initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

This will include designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that align with the College’s strategic goals, promoting skill development, and supporting professional growth across departments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programmes, ensuring they meet the diverse learning needs of employees
  • Working with department heads to identify skill gaps and develop targeted learning solutions
  • Developing e-learning materials, instructional resources, and facilitating workshops / sessions
  • Co-ordinating the annual calendar of training events and initiatives for staff
  • Maintaining accurate records on the Learning Management System (LMS), tracking participation, progress, and completion rates

We are seeking to appoint a talented and motivated individual who can demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a learning and development or training role
  • Experience in creating and delivering e-learning content
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience of designing, delivering, and evaluating training programmes

Qualifications

GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (Grade C or above)

Professional qualification in Learning and Development (e.g., CIPD Level 3) or a commitment to obtain it within a year

Educated to A Level standard or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a learning and development or training role

Experience in creating and delivering e-learning content

Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects

Excellent research, analytical, communication, and presentation skills

Experience of designing, delivering, and evaluating training programmes

Ability to analyse data and generate reports to assess training effectiveness

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software

Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable to various audiences

Accuracy and strong attention to detail

Good literacy, numeracy skills and communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels in an organisation

Ability to manage/supervise the work of others and delegate effectively

Previous experience within the education or public sector

Personal Attributes

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with staff at all levels

A commitment to diversity, equality, and safeguarding within the workplace

Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness and ability to work across all HRUC sites as required

Flexibility to adjust working hours occasionally to meet role demands
